Generally I won’t eat anything but the drumstick. It takes a very talented cook to get me anywhere near the rest of the bird. Then the other 90% of the plate is packed with all the lovely side items that really make the holiday famous. I think I could even do without the turkey entirely – except the coma afterward is pretty delightful.
When I first began working here I was full time on the front desk of Hotel Providence, my first day “alone” (as in, without someone watching my every move) was Thanksgiving. Aspire Restaurant came by with plates piled high with traditional holiday items and suddenly, the fact that I was missing my family dinner mattered very little to me.
